As Emerson speaks on individuality and integrity you have to wonder, has Americans become too consumed with their own egos to realized we've lost our originality, that everyone wants to be someone else?

I think examining the American "ego" would be an interesting focus. Remember this must be done through the lens of a specific passage from Emerson. Taking a close look at a small set passages is the primary focus of Paper #1. Begin by choosing the passage you would like to work with. Write your thesis around the ideas that emerge in this passage. Good luck!
